Various types of Water Filters
You must be very much aware of the term water filter. A water filter uses a physical barrier, a chemical process or a biological process and removes impurities from water.
Water filters are used for various purposes that can range from water supplies for agriculture to filtering drinking water.
There are various types of water filters as there are different problems in purification and different problems need different solutions. They are mentioned below:
Carbon Filters- these filters are not at all costly and perform very basic functions of filtration. Even the installation is said to be very easy. As the water is passed in these water filters, all the contaminations are absorbed. Some water filters also use the husks obtained from coconuts in the form of charcoal medium carbon. It helps in cleaning very dangerous contaminants. But the life span of carbon filters is just for six to nine months. Activated nano-silver can be used for the improvement of its effectiveness. The carbon filters even allow passing of some useful and essential minerals through while avoiding the passing of harmful contaminants. When large amount of deposits are found in water, deposit pre-filters are to be attached separately. Such filters rectify acidic contents in water.
Distillation-based water Filters- the process of distillation helps in removing all kinds of impurities. For a very large span of time it was strongly believed that the distillation-based water filters are the best in case of drinking water. But, a typical type of distiller could even produce outputs that can be of acidic nature. Another benefit in distilled water filter is that there are no minerals found in the later distilled water. There are minerals in water that are in natural form itself. These have their own importance like metabolism and immune reactions, thus having a very essential function to perform. These minerals are allowed to be passed on in these water filters.
Ceramic Filters: the filter fitted on top of a bench is mostly with a ceramic water filter attached to it. The most integral part of these ceramic water filters. Algae, mostly found in the watery areas of the earth, also often referred to as smaller shell-shaped diatoms, manufactured using silicon. Diatomaceous Earth, which are fossil substances from shells are very essential in ceramic filters. The outer shell is impregnated with nano-silver and is very porous. This is done destroy the bacteria found in water.
Water Filters based on Reverse Osmosis: for the purpose of filtration, this filter uses a fine membrane. This process of reversing osmosis is long drawn-out. Once the unpurified water is passed through the water filter, pressure is applied on one side of the membrane. This process helps in making unfit water clean and drinkable. Perhaps the water obtained after this process is said to be very pure.
There are even special water filters that help in polishing of water. The kind of water filters are mostly used in aquariums in capturing micro particles in nylon and polyester pads. Thus, water polishing can also be mentioned under water filtration.
